Felt Flowers

I am SO in love with the flower bouquets over at Princess Lasertron.

I'm pretty sure I could never afford to have her make them even though I would love that more than anything. So, I decided I would try my hand at doing it myself. This of course meant purchasing a Sizzix machine because I have no patience for cutting out flower shapes and I know that I would never be able to get them to be as perfect as I would want them. I know how to hand sew, even if it takes me a very long time, so I know that I could do this with practice.

And here are my practice flowers from last night

I think that I need LOTS of practice but I am so in love with the daisy looking ones. My favorite one is the purple and white with teal stitching and button! And the one just to the right of it. I'm so excited about this.

Finished, sort of

Trip Around The World Quilt top:

Center:

Overall I am tickled pink to be finished with this part of the top. Now I have to pick some fabric for the borders and find a king sized sheet that I love as much as I love the front for the back. I am so pleased that this part is done.

I'll do the borders next week. Then next Saturday it takes a trip to Montana where it will be quilted over the summer.

YAY!!!!!

A resolution gone ary

So, as part of my New Year's Resolutions I was going to update here more often. I have done crafty things since October but I usually just forget to photograph and blog about them.

So, we'll do a little looking forward.

I can't wait to get my hands on this pattern. Soon hopefully! They should be shipping to stores in the next few weeks and hopefully someone from here locally is ordering them, otherwise I'll have to order it as a kit off of her website which wouldn't be so bad!

Trip Around the World cont.

the top and the next set of rows ready to be sewn together and added on

an exercise in crossed seams

The colors are a little bit distorted here thanks to the fabulous gym lights over head. In person the colors are quite stunning and less yellow looking. Now do you understand why I said this is driving me crazy?

P.S. I just realized that my first post about this quilt was on April Fool's Day. I guess I was trying to fool myself into working on it. Funny how now, even though it drives me crazy it is my peace and when I work on it I am able to think clearly about whatever it is that may be bothering me. Who knew that such a repetitive motion could be so cathartic?

Finally...the wedding gift

March 8th one of my best friends got married. I made an awesome shadow box and proceeded to leave it at home by accident. Well, then I go the bright idea to take it apart and fix it up a bit. Leave it to me to never just let anything be. Well, then I broke the actual box and managed to mangle a part of the stuff that was inside the box. So, this is take two. I think I like it more than the original although I was skeptical at the beginning. I was able to use the flowers from her wedding and a photo, which you will not see because I haven't been able to find someone in Palatka who can print a one hour digital photo. Gah!!! The photo gnomes are against me today!

I always make such a mess when I'm working

More mess, I didn't end up using these stickers for this project but I am eager to use them for another, they are so cute!

A rough draft of sorts, before anything was actually stuck on. That's the photo, crappy quality on printer paper but, I very nice photo of the couple

Everything is stuck on for good now!

One of my fav. embellishments ever made, metal tags!

On the left, Matt's boutonniere, on the left part of my bouquet. Maybe a do over worked in my favor. I'm so glad she used silk flowers, they came in very handy here.

Perhaps one of my all time favorite quotes about marriage. I have never been able to find who it is by but I love it because to me it is real life this is the kind of promise that marriage should be.

*the shadow box is drying from being cleaned. when I finally get the picture in and everything closed up I will post a final product picture
