Madison Uptown Bag

Inside, with added pocket that is the length of the purse, three sections

Outside

  • Amy Butler Pattern
  • Madison Bags, Uptown Bag
  • Awesome pink fabric with red flower/paisley detail
  • Even cooler black and white lining
  • A snap instead of the weird Velcro closure that I have had problems with in the past
  • Completed in just under 2.5 hours from start to finish.

Now, to go move the shop around for cleaning tomorrow and get home to my puppy!

The colors are a little bit distorted here thanks to the fabulous gym lights over head. In person the colors are quite stunning and less yellow looking. Now do you understand why I said this is driving me crazy?

P.S. I just realized that my first post about this quilt was on April Fool's Day. I guess I was trying to fool myself into working on it. Funny how now, even though it drives me crazy it is my peace and when I work on it I am able to think clearly about whatever it is that may be bothering me. Who knew that such a repetitive motion could be so cathartic?

Finally...the wedding gift

March 8th one of my best friends got married. I made an awesome shadow box and proceeded to leave it at home by accident. Well, then I go the bright idea to take it apart and fix it up a bit. Leave it to me to never just let anything be. Well, then I broke the actual box and managed to mangle a part of the stuff that was inside the box. So, this is take two. I think I like it more than the original although I was skeptical at the beginning. I was able to use the flowers from her wedding and a photo, which you will not see because I haven't been able to find someone in Palatka who can print a one hour digital photo. Gah!!! The photo gnomes are against me today!

I always make such a mess when I'm working

More mess, I didn't end up using these stickers for this project but I am eager to use them for another, they are so cute!

A rough draft of sorts, before anything was actually stuck on. That's the photo, crappy quality on printer paper but, I very nice photo of the couple

Everything is stuck on for good now!

One of my fav. embellishments ever made, metal tags!

On the left, Matt's boutonniere, on the left part of my bouquet. Maybe a do over worked in my favor. I'm so glad she used silk flowers, they came in very handy here.

Perhaps one of my all time favorite quotes about marriage. I have never been able to find who it is by but I love it because to me it is real life this is the kind of promise that marriage should be.

*the shadow box is drying from being cleaned. when I finally get the picture in and everything closed up I will post a final product picture

The Baby Quilt

So, this is the quilt top for Katy's new baby. I'm taking the chance that she won't see it but, she might. I'm so proud of it though and I love it so much that I don't really care. She'll love it just the same having seen it before or not. I have no idea if the baby is a boy or a girl and yes I realize that this quilt sort of leans to the boy side but I don't care. I loved Paddington Bear as a child and would have loved this quilt just the same even though it isn't pink and doesn't have an inch of frilly anywhere in it.

a look at the whole top
My favorite square

The corner where the borders meet

I think I'm going to try hand quilting it. The piecing went together much quicker than I anticpated and I have the time to work on it through next month. I could take it and have it done by machine but the cost of that would double what I've already spent. Hand quilting it will be time consuming but, it's not like I have much else to do when I get home from work.

this is the definition of crazy

This is my trip around the world quilt. I bought and cut all of the fabric over the summer last year. I put together about five rows and quit. It's queen sized two inch squares. This is my definition of crazy. Hopefully by posting about it here I will make myself work on it.

New Skirt

So, working on a new skirt today. I'm already ready to cry though....I didn't but enough fabric so who knows what it will turn out looking like. eeeeekkkkk!!!!

*************************
So, it actually turned out just fine. I'm quite happy with it, even though I'm not sure if I really like it. Several people have made positive comments though so that's good.

A closer picture....look at those pretty pleats

A Joke

The Costume Designer right now is a student. She made a buy list for us, and to the end she added a man for herself. This was our solution.

The entire shop got a laugh out of the last instruction. "Play with it over and over again." how very silly.

Mystery Quilt

It is complete for now. I haven't decided if I will give it away or keep it. I also haven't decided if I were to give it away who would get it. I might make it larger by adding more borders. I may just leave it as it is. I must say that it is very cute and I will be making this quilt again...at some point in the future.

This is the block that makes up the rows

This is the cool pattern that comes out when you put the rows together

To have an idea...

...is a brilliant plan. I have this idea that I'll actually keep up with my crafts this year and post them so that I can have a little scrapbook of sorts. So far I am already behing as I have started several projects already this year. I hope to finish a couple of them this week and get some pictures up of the finished products. In the mean time I'll post two pictures of the fabrics that I am using for these two very different projects.

Pieces to a mystery quilt that I'm almost finished putting together.

Pieces to a supper cute purse that is about half way finished
